There's a hole in the river . . .
This stretch of the Colorado might not float your boat
Check out this great article on Huffington Post by Zach Podmore, part of the Down The River expedition floating the Colorado River. He witnessed firsthand the "hole" in the Colorado River below Windy Gap Reservoir caused by water diversions to the Front Range--leading to miles of shallow, warm water that's putting the river and its Gold Medal trout fishery at risk. TU has been taking the lead in fighting for stronger protections for this incredible river. The story features TU's Rob Firth talking about the harmful impacts to the river (including a shocking decline in bugs, sculpin and other aquatic life), and the need for more mitigation, including flushing flows to clear sediment and a bypass to reconnect the river and restore its health.
